About | annahalliwell

Anna Halliwell Gianferante is a mixed media artist and arts educator from the Manhattan Project’s Secret City, Oak Ridge, Tennessee. With a background in both studio art and education, she holds an MFA in Painting from the Savannah College of Art and Design and an MS in Teacher Education from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Her work uses mixed medias to explore themes of loss and how the past is recollected. The photographs she took growing up are often resurrected to convey lost connections with others and the distorted nature of memory.

Gianferante has more than 15 years of experience as an arts educator and has taught in public K-12 classrooms, community colleges, and universities. Her teaching spans undergraduate and graduate instruction in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats, with a focus on curriculum design and choice-based art education. She is currently an Assistant Professor at Pellissippi State Community College, where she teaches painting, drawing, art history, and mixed media special topics courses.
